Access to Sendai

SENDAI AIRPORT

On November 20 & 21 Ignite Sendai Conference Volunteers will be waiting at Sendai Airport to welcome you and guide you to your hotel and the Conference Venue.

TOKYO AIRPORTS (HANEDA & NARITA) & BULLET TRAIN

Access to Sendai is available through both of Tokyo’s International Airports. These airports are approximately a 1 hour train or bus transfer to Tokyo Station followed by a 1 hour 30min Bullet Train ride on the Tohoku Shinkansen. We suggest allowing 3.5+ hours after leaving either of Tokyo’s International Airports to arrive in Sendai. More detailed transfer information and support will be provided directly to conference guests prior to the conference.

Additionally, on November 20 & 21 Ignite Sendai Conference Volunteers will be waiting at Sendai Station to welcome you and guide you to your hotel and the Conference Venue.

BY CAR

 Sendai City can be accessed via the Tohoku Expressway directly from Tokyo in about 5 hours. Tolls are approximately ¥10,000 ($100) and can be paid in cash at the designated toll booths on the highway.

We suggest checking if your hotel has on-site parking before attending by car, as parking in Japan is extremely limited (and most streets do not have kerb-side street parking). Parking can usually be found in paid “coin parking” lots charged in 20-30min increments for about $1-2 per 30min, although this can end up quite pricey for a long stay.
